I am a sociologist and ethnographer. I am currently a Senior Manager of Research and Education at the Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation, and a nonresident fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Previously I was a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Utah.

My work is at the intersection of family, gender, and inequality, with a focus on maternal and child health and well-being. My research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Russell Sage Foundation, and Utah Department of Labor. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Hunger Free America and 18 Reasons. I completed my Ph.D. in Sociology from Stanford University and my postdoctoral training as a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fellow in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at the Stanford School of Medicine.
